Abstract

3Com Corp. commissioned The Tolly Group to evaluate its SuperStack 3 Switch 4924, a purpose-built, stand-alone, stackable 24 port Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet switch outfitted with copper interfaces, and to compare its performance against that of a Cisco Systems, Inc. Catalyst 4006 and a Hewlett-Packard Procurve 4108GL switch. The Toll Group evaluated the steady-state, zero-loss, bi-directional (full-duplex) throughput of each switch using 64-, 512- and 1,518-byte frames in a Gigabit Ethernet environment.
