Abstract
CoSine Communications commissioned The Tolly Group to evaluate its IPSX 9500 Service Provisioning Switch with Advanced IPSG technology. The IPSX 9500 is a 26-slot intelligent edge device designed for SP points of presence where it works in tandem with CoSine’s IP Service Generator dual-slot blades (subsystems) to deliver scalable high-performance IP services at multi-gigabit rates. CoSine’s IP Network Operating System (IPNOS) running on the IPSGs provides a fully distributed and virtualized architecture that enables managed services to be customized to address the unique needs of individual customers. Tolly Group engineers conducted firewall performance with Network Address Translation (NAT) and with various firewall rules factored into the configuration for a variety of frames sizes. Engineers also tested bi-directional zero-loss VPN throughput (IPSec and Multiprotocol Label Switching [MPLS] tested independently) over Gigabit Ethernet networks. Tests focused exclusively on high-performance coupled with end-user network scalability for IP services including firewall, NAT, IPSec VPNs and BGP/MPLS VPNs.
